Time for a Change

Congress no longer works for the people of America. And certainly not for the hard working people of West Virginia.

We all know it. And we all know why.

Enough is enough. It is time for a change. Time to send a new representative to Washington to stand up for our people.

The current government shutdown is a vivid, painful example of how broken Congress is. The last federal budget expired on September 30, 2017. Congress had an entire year to prepare for the next budget. And yet, once again, when the time came, Congress was not ready. So, it put a temporary bandaid on this most fundamental of all financial issues. The danger to our system started back then–September 30, 2017– not this weekend.

For all these months, Congress dithered. Totally unable to focus on the issue. Putting the country at risk.

And, as we have grown to expect, Congress then began the game of “chicken,” each party challenging the other to dare not to approve one issue or another or the government would shut down.

Ultimately, as has happened far too often in recent years, the people must now pay the price of a suspension of our government.

We need to send leaders to Congress who will not stand this incompetence. Who will insist that Congress focus on the real merits of the issues. Face up to hard realities, Find solutions. Get things done. And do it all in a timely way.

We do not have such a leader representing the First District of West Virginia today.

I am running for Congress to give the people of our district the leadership and representation they deserve. And need.

She gave me the educational foundation for my life.  That schoolhouse is where I learned to read.  To do math.  To think.  And to imagine.  It’s where I earned my chance […]
