    Applefest and Oglebayfest

Had a full day of festivals in the Northern Panhandle starting with Applefest in Wellsburg and then on to Oglebayfest in Wheeling. An especially big thank you to my friend Marc Chernenko for taking me around and introducing me to people at Applefest!

    Wheeling – Show of Hands

I had a great time last night at Show of Hands in downtown Wheeling. All of the presentations were excellent, and exemplify what can happen when we as a community come together to support entrepreneurs and grow our economy. A special congratulations to the very impressive young women from YWCA Wheeling on being voted the winning project!

    Northern Panhandle Fundraiser

Though I have attended plenty of fundraisers throughout my life, last night was the first time that I was candidate! A huge thank you to Barbara Scott and Barbara LaRue for putting together a great event. I can’t think of a better way to spend my first fundraiser than with such great friends from my native northern panhandle.

West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women

Cheryl, Ashley and I had a great time this weekend at the West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women annual meeting. As is tradition for candidates, I had my tie auctioned off by folks from the State Treasurer’s office. A big thank you to Jim Moon and Belinda Biafore for helping me break the record for a tie bid, especially for such a great cause!

    Wood County

I enjoyed traveling to Parkersburg to speak with the Wood County Democratic Party. Thank you for your insights and sharing the issues that concern you. Those issues affecting the Mid Ohio Valley – from the opioid crisis to retaining young people – are the same problems we face across the district, and together we can work to solve them.

  • Ralph Baxter on the campaign trail - Pleasants, Ritchie, and Doddridge

    Pleasants, Ritchie, and Doddridge

Today I started a day of touring some of the beautiful rural counties of our district with breakfast in St. Mary’s with fellow Democrats in Pleasants County. Heading south took me to a stop at Berdine’s Five and Dime in Harrisville and Porter’s Grounds in West Union. A special shout-out to Tammy and Carey in Doddridge County for some great conversation!

  • Ralph Baxter on the campaign trail - Paden City

    Paden City

It was great being back home in Wetzel County today for Paden City’s Labor Day festival. From listening to the concerns of people at the firehouse to passing our candy to some of West Virginia’s future leaders in the parade, today has been a highlight in my journey as a candidate. I look forward to returning next year as a candidate and in 2019 as your friend in Congress!

  • Ralph Baxter on the campaign trail - Mannington

    Mannington

As the son of a union steelworker, Labor Day is one of my favorite holidays of the year. And now, spending the Sunday before in Mannington with the Marion County AFL-CIO is one of my favorite ways to celebrate it! I especially enjoyed hearing from our phenomenal labor leaders, remembering those who fought for worker’s rights in the past, and looking forward to improving the lives of working families in the future.

  • Ralph Baxter on the campaign trail - Barbour County Pig Roast

    Barbour County Pig Roast

Syd and I enjoyed our trip down to Barbour County for the annual Democratic Pig Roast. We stopped at the covered bridge along the way, where I was able to soak in some of the local history and scenery, while Syd stretched her legs after the car ride down. The ham at the pig roast was delicious, and my conversations with fellow Democrats in Barbour County was the perfect side dish!

  • Ralph Baxter on the campaign trail - Parkersburg Parade

    Parkersburg Parade

My very first experience walking in a parade was a huge success, thanks to the Wood County Democrats! Cheryl and I had a blast participating in the Parkersburg Homecoming Parade, and I enjoyed meeting so many great people along the route. A very special thank you to my cousin Pam for helping me learn the hang of parade marching!
